Wireless micro cap soars on takeover bid
Shares of Kangaroo Media (TSX: V.KTV) skyrocketed 300% to 36 cents on Friday as the developer of hand-held wireless audiovisual multi-functional entertainment systems announced that it has entered into a definitive arrangement agreement for the acquisition of Kangaroo by Game Day Entertainment, LLC. Under the terms of the agreement, shareholders of Kangaroo will receive 40 cents in cash, for each common share of Kangaroo outstanding at closing, subject to a possible upward adjustment.
Wireless stock pops on financial results
Shares of DragonWave (TSX: T.DWI) shot up 14% to $10.49 on Friday as the supplier of packet microwave radio systems for mobile and access networks said its second-quarter revenue soared 236% to $35.5 million from $10.6 million during the same period last year, while net income for the quarter was $6.3 million, or 21 cents a share, compared with a loss of $1.7 million a year earlier.
Nortel shares surge on data-switch business sale approval
Shares of Nortel Networks (TSX: T.NT) climbed 87% to 31 cents Thursday with over 20 million shares traded, as the company won approval from a bankruptcy court to sell its data-switch business to Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR) for more than $17 million, according to reports from Bloomberg.
Redline Communication Group jumps 80%
Redline Communication Group (TSX: T.RDL) shares powered 80% higher to 45 cents after Vecima Networks (TSX: T.VCM) reported it has acquired common shares of Redline. Will shareholders welcome the eTelecare tender?
eTelecare Global Solutions (NASDAQ: ETEL)(PSE: ETEL), a leading provider of complex business process outsourcing solutions, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement by which affiliates of Ayala Corporation and Providence Equity Partners will pay $9 per share for ETEL in a tender offer. Completion of the tender offer will be subject to the condition that at least 66.67% of eTelecare's shares shares and American Depositary Shares (on a fully diluted basis) are tendered in the offer.
Bigband Networks up 19%
BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: BBND), a leading innovator in digital video networking, today announced that Jiangsu Cable is deploying its Broadband Multimedia-Service Router (BMR(R)) to process and deliver digital television services, including high definition (HD) and interactive television. The BigBand BMR will be deployed in the provincial capital and nine cities, and provide digital television services to millions of subscribers.
Enliven Marketing spikes on amended merger agreement
DG FastChannel, Inc. (NASDAQ: DGIT) and Enliven Marketing Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ENLV) ("Enliven") announced today that they have entered into an amended merger agreement regarding DG FastChannel's previously announced acquisition of Enliven in a stock-for-stock transaction. The revised terms of the transaction value Enliven at approximately $80 million, inclusive of approximately $5.0 million of Enliven's debt.
Guangzhou Global Telecom revenues increase 83%
Guangzhou Global Telecom Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: GZGT), a mobile phone handset, pre-paid calling card distributor and provider of value-added mobile services in the PRC, reported $8,745,541 in 2nd Quarter revenues as compared to $4,789,850 during the same period ended in 2007, representing an increase of $3,955,691 or 83%.
