Shares of Kangaroo Media (TSX: V.KTV) skyrocketed 300% to 36 cents on Friday as the developer of hand-held wireless audiovisual multi-functional entertainment systems announced that it has entered into a definitive arrangement agreement for the acquisition of Kangaroo by Game Day Entertainment, LLC. Under the terms of the agreement, shareholders of Kangaroo will receive 40 cents in cash, for each common share of Kangaroo outstanding at closing, subject to a possible upward adjustment.

Takeover offer spurs junior mineral exploration company

Freewest Resources (TSX: T.FRW), a mineral exploration company with chromite, gold and base-metal properties in Eastern Canada, said on Monday that it had received an unsolicited share-only takeover offer from Noront Resources (TSX: V.NOT). The thread was solidly against the offer, and in line with Freewest management, which said that the bid was “highly opportunistic” that it “significantly undervalues” the company’s assets.
