BioCryst (BCRX) surges on flu drug trial results
Shares of BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: BCRX), the life-sciences component of Stockhouse wealth service Ticker Trax (TM), soared 41% to $5.95 Friday, after the Birmingham, Alabama-based biotech firm announced positive results from two Phase 3 studies of its influenza treatment, intravenous peramivir, in patients with seasonal flu.

Quebec-based biotechnology company Medicago (TSX: V.MDG) announced results Tuesday from an immunogenicity study in mice with its new vaccine candidate for the influenza A (H1N1) virus.
Noveko tests masks for use against H1N1
Noveko International (TSX: T.EKO) shares were up 12.5% to $2.42 Tuesday, after the air filter, face mask and antimicrobial product developer announced that it has received preliminary results of tests on the Noveko antimicrobial masks with respect to the Influenza A Virus (H1N1), similar to the one responsible for the human swine flu.
